OUR PURPOSE

North Court Baptist Church exists to glorify our great God, to preach the Gospel of Christ, and to provide fellowship for born-again Christians.  It is our goal to make disciples of Jesus Christ, equip them with the Word of God, and send them to be salt and light locally and globally.

OUR MESSAGE

  • There is one living God who created us to know Him (Gen 1:1), yet our sin—our failure to keep His law—has separated us from Him (Romans 3:23).

  • Because God is perfectly just, a day of judgment is coming when He will hold the world accountable for sin and pour out His righteous wrath (Romans 2:5; 2 Thessalonians 1:7–9).

  • But because God is love, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for our sin and rose from the dead, demonstrating His victory over death and sin (John 3:16; Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Romans 6:9-10).

  • All who place their faith alone in Jesus Christ, repent from their sins, and follow Him will be saved from the coming wrath and granted eternal life (Romans 10:9–10; Acts 16:31).

OUR BELIEFS

The Bible is the inspired Word of God

We believe:

  • The Bible, in its original manuscripts, was verbally inspired by God through Spirit-led authors (2 Pet 1:19–21).

  • It is fully reliable and completely free from any error (John 17:17).

  • It is the supreme authority for evaluating all beliefs, teachings, and conduct (2 Tim 3:16-17).

  • It stands at the center of Christian unity.

God is the Triune Sovereign over all

We believe:

  • There is only one living and true God—an infinite Spirit, Creator and Sovereign of heaven and earth (Gen 1:1; Deut 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:6).

  • He is supremely holy and infinitely glorious, worthy of all honor, trust, and love (Revelation 4:11).

  • In the unity of the Godhead, three distinct yet coequal persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—share the fullness of divine perfection and work seamlessly in the great work of redemption (Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19).

Creation was done by God in 6 literal days

We believe:

  • God created the heavens, the earth, and everything in them in six literal 24-hour days (Gen 1-2)

  • God formed the first humans—Adam from the dust of the ground and Eve from his side—commissioning them as the original ancestors of all humanity (Genesis 1:26–27; 2:7, 21–22)

  • Christ sustains and upholds all that He made by the word of His power (Colossians 1:16–17; John 1:3)

Jesus Christ is eternally God

We believe:

  • He is the promised Seed who would crush evil and restore creation (Genesis 3:15).

  • He is Immanuel—“God with us,” conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary (Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:35).

  • His entrance into the world was uniquely miraculous—no other man has been born or can be born in this way (Matthew 1:18–25).

  • He is the eternal Son of God, the living Word in whom was life, and that life shines as the light of humanity (John 1:1-4).

The Holy Spirit is eternally God

We believe:

  • The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, fully God and equal in nature with the Father and the Son (John 14:16–17; Matthew 28:19; Luke 1:35).

  • He was active in creation, speaking life into the universe (Genesis 1:1–3).

  • He restrains the power of evil and convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and coming judgment (John 16:8–11; 2 Thess 2:7).

  • He bears witness to the truth of the Gospel through preaching and testimony (Acts 5:30–32).

  • He is the agent of the new birth, bringing spiritual life and empowerment (John 3:5–6; Mark 1:8; John 1:33).

  • He seals believers as God’s own and guarantees our inheritance (Ephesians 1:13–14).

  • He enables us with power, guides our steps, teaches us all things, sanctifies our hearts, and intercedes for us (John 14:26; Luke 24:49; Romans 8:14,16; Romans 8:26–27).

The Problem with Humanity: Sin

We believe:

  • Humans were created pure and innocent under God’s design (Genesis 2:15-17).

  • By willful disobedience, they fell from that state, choosing sin over trust in their Maker (Genesis 3:6-7).

  • As a result, every person inherits a sin nature, making us sinners by choice and not merely by circumstance (Romans 1:18; 3:10-18).

  • Under just divine judgment, we stand condemned without defense or excuse, highlighting our desperate need for redemption (Romans 5:10–19).

God's Solution: Atonement

We believe:

  • Salvation is entirely by God’s grace through Christ, not by human effort (Ephesians 2:8; Acts 15:11; Romans 3:24).

  • The Son of God, by the Father’s appointment, took on our sinless human nature and perfectly honored the Law through His personal obedience (Philippians 2:7; Hebrews 2:14).

  • His death was a full and voluntary substitution—Christ, the Just, dying for the unjust—bearing our sins in His own body on the cross (Isaiah 53:4–7; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

  • This atonement is not merely an example but an actual payment for sin, satisfying divine justice and reconciling us to God (John 3:16; Romans 3:25; 1 John 4:10).

  • Having risen from the dead, He is now enthroned in heaven, uniting divine perfection with tender compassion—fully qualified to be our compassionate, all-sufficient Savior (1 John 2:1-4).

Salvation by Grace alone through Faith alone

We believe:

  • Salvation requires a sovereign rebirth—“born again” is a one-time, instantaneous work of Christ, not a gradual process (John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

  • At new birth, those dead in sin are made alive, partake of God’s own nature, and receive eternal life as His free gift (Ephesians 2:1; 2 Peter 1:4; Romans 6:23).

  • This new creation is carried out solely by the Holy Spirit through divine truth—beyond human comprehension yet securing our willing obedience to the Gospel (John 3:6–8; Colossians 2:13; 2 Corinthians 5:19).

  • The hallmarks of this transformation are genuine repentance, living faith, and a life marked by fresh obedience and spiritual fruit (Acts 17:30–33; 1 John 5:1-5).

Faith and Salvation

We believe:

  • Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only condition of salvation and does not come about through the merits or works of man (Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8–9).

Justification is possible by the atonement in Christ Jesus

We believe:

  • The great gospel blessing which Christ secures to such as believe in Him is justification (Rom 3:21-26).

  • Justification includes the pardon of sin and the gift of eternal life on principles of righteousness (Acts 13:39; Isaiah 53:11).

  • It is bestowed not in consideration of any works of righteousness which we have done, but solely through faith in the Redeemer’s blood, His righteousness being imputed to us (Zechariah 13:1; Romans 5:1,9; Romans 8:1).

Eternity for the Righteous and the Wicked

We believe:

  • There is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked (Malachi 3:18; Genesis 18:23; 1 John 5:19).

  • Only those justified by faith in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and sanctified by the Spirit of our God are truly righteous in His esteem (Romans 6:17–18; Romans 7:6).

  • All who do not repent and do not believe are, in God’s sight, wicked and under His curse (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-3).

  • This distinction holds both in life and after death: the saved enter God's everlasting Kingdom, while the lost endure conscious, eternal suffering (Proverbs 14:32; Matthew 25:34–41).

Security of Salvation for the Believer

We believe:

  • All who are truly born again are kept by God the Father for Jesus Christ, and that nothing can separate them from His love (Philippians 1:6; John 10:28–29; Romans 8:35–39; Jude 1).

The Local Church is the local gathering of those who have placed their faith in Christ

We believe:

  • A local church consists of baptized believers united in faith and gospel fellowship (Acts 2:41–42).

  • It observes Christ’s ordinances, is governed by His law, and actively exercises the gifts and roles He grants (Ephesians 1:22–23; Ephesians 4:11).

  • Its officers are pastors and deacons whose qualifications, claims, and duties are clearly defined in Scripture (Acts 20:17–28; 1 Timothy 3:1–13).

  • The church’s true mission is the faithful witness of Christ to all people as opportunities arise (Colossians 1:13-23; 1 Corinthians 1:23).

  • Each local church has the absolute right of self-government with Christ as supreme through the Holy Spirit (Acts 15:13–22; 1 Peter 5:1-5).

  • True churches may cooperate to defend the faith and further the Gospel, yet each congregation alone determines the extent and methods of its cooperation; its decisions on membership, polity, discipline, and benevolence are final (Acts 15:13–22).

Baptism and Communion as Symbols of the Faith

We believe:

  • Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water to symbolize our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior (Acts 8:26–39; Matthew 3:16).

  • It signifies our death to sin and resurrection to new life, and it is a prerequisite to joining the church (Romans 6:3–5; Colossians 2:12).

  • Communion is the commemoration of His death until He comes and should always be preceded by self-examination (1 Corinthians 11:23–28).

Government as ordained by God

We believe:

  • Civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society (Romans 13:1–7; 2 Samuel 23:3; Exodus 18:21–22).

  • Political leaders are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored, and obeyed—except in matters that oppose the will of our Lord Jesus Christ; when civil commands conflict with divine commands, our allegiance belongs to Christ alone (Matthew 22:21; Acts 23:5; Acts 4:19; Acts 5:29; Daniel 3:17–18; 1 Timothy 2:1-4).

  • Jesus Christ is Lord and the coming Prince of the kings of the earth (Revelation 19:11-16).

End-Times

We believe:

  • Jesus will return personally and visibly before the tribulation to gather His church, fulfill His promises, and establish final judgment (John 14:3; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; James 5:8; Hebrews 9:28).

  • At His return, those who have died in Christ will be raised imperishable, clothed with glorified bodies (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; 1 Corinthians 15:42–44, 52).

  • Believers still alive at His coming will be instantaneously transformed—our mortal bodies made immortal to meet the Lord in the air (1 Corinthians 15:51–53; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; Philippians 3:20–21).

  • Christ inherits David’s throne, fulfilling the promise of an eternal, righteous kingdom that extends over all nations (Luke 1:32; Isaiah 9:6–7; Acts 2:29–30).

  • Following His return, Jesus will reign for a literal thousand years of peace and justice, then usher in the final judgment and the new heavens and earth (1 Corinthians 15:25; Isaiah 32:1; Isaiah 11:4–5; Psalm 72:8; Revelation 20:4–6,14).

The Devil

We believe:

  • He exists as a personal, spiritual being—the unholy god of this age and the author of all powers of darkness (2 Corinthians 4:4).

  • He actively tempts and tests humanity (1 Peter 5:8-9)

  • He is destined for eternal justice and will be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10).

Marriage and Human Sexuality as ordained by God

We believe:

  • Marriage is God’s design uniting one man and one woman in a lifelong covenant (Genesis 2:24).

  • All sexual intimacy belongs exclusively within that marriage vow (Hebrews 13:4; 1 Thessalonians 4:1–8).

  • Any sexual activity outside this covenant—including homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography—falls short of God’s intention for human sexuality (Genesis 19:5,13; Leviticus 18:1–30; Romans 1:26–29).

  • Gender and body are God-designed from creation, and we reject attempts to alter one’s gender identity or appearance through surgery or external means (Genesis 1:27).

  • The marriage relationship mirrors Christ’s sacrificial love, calling husbands and wives to mutual submission, respect, and faithful devotion (Ephesians 5:22–23).
